Connect to a host without download its workshop content

Hi, I want to join in a host of my friend. His GMOD is loaded with many, many mods. Most of his workshop are models, skins. I don't want to download all of his workshop, but he still don't want to disable his mods. So are there any ways to let me load into his host without downloading all workshop content ? Thanks

Create a dedicated server on your of your friends PC, if you have one, you can choose the addons/gamemodes/maps that will work on the server (you have to convert the addons first).
And if he has a dedicated server, you have to download the addons, or you can't play on the server.

I swear there was a mod for this that got discontinued. I hope someone has found a mod to replace it by now. I do not want to set up a server for this.

There's an option in the Game tab of Options to choose what you want to download when joining servers.

TBH I didn't expect a response at all.
Just to be clear, this work with peer to peer servers, and not necessarily just always online, dedicated servers, right?

It works for any server, there is no differences when you connect to a server, be it dedicated or peer to peer.

For me it dosent work,when I tunr it on and go to servers, it say I need to have a map, when I click to donwload map its still too much so idk is there any mods?
