Can you disable background sound?

Is it possible to stop the background noise (birds, wind, etc) but still have everything else like props and voice chat uneffected?

Server owner of shadyservers.org here. Yes it is, whenever a sound you don't like pops up. Type stopsound in your console.

Does not work and stopsound does not stop the sound forever. On some maps it keeps coming back right after you have typed stopsound. Those who make maps must be retarded to have sound in their maps lol.

It is almost a year later and I would very much like an answer to this. I got this really annoying dramatic background music file from some server and it's on every map I play now. stopsound only stops it for like a minute. stopsoundscape does nothing. PLEASE HELP FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

Same issue but on a server and we cannot stop the soundscape at all with either of those commands...

"stopsound" worked for me. Not "stopsoundscape".

stop sound does not permenantly dissable it, so stop saying that. and stopsoundscape is not allowed on most servers. Does anyone have a better anser??

Disable sound only works when you delete your garrys mod folder

yea go on Steam, then uninstall Garry's Mod

Hey, I know this is super old but I do have a fix for this:

- Navigate to steamapps/common/garrysmod
- Search for "soundscape"
- Hit Ctrl + A
- Delete that ♥♥♥♥
- Restart your game

Ambient sounds that you'll want will be there but other sounds (like buzzing from maps) will be gone.
