Garry's Mod Won't Download

My friend gifted my Garry's mod standalone, but for some reason, it won't download after 80%. It's stuck at 1.6gb out of 2gb. I tried restarting steam, my computer and the download but it didn't help

go to ur hardrive. then go to a folder named steam, in that folder there is a another known as steam apps. search for the garry mod files, delete it, then try redownloading it. ur computer always holds back up files even after deleting local content. hope this was helpful.
