I can't install any addons on Garry's Mod.

It kind of fixed itself. After some time and a few updates it started installing the mods and addons regularly. I didn't really do anything myself. If anyone has a more direct approach to this problem, or a definitive solution. Please reply on this disscusion so it may help those who have a persisting issue.

Hello If anyone can help me out i installed gmod a few days ago it wouldnt start up no matter what i did after a day or two of what seamed like running around in circles how i how i got it to launch was a surprise i used my friends fps fix for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles cause nothing else was working and bam! it worked but now that its working i am having promlems with the add-ons on steam when i go into the work shop i can subscribe so all the ones i was the bottom download bar appears (sometimes already half full) but when i go into the game the down load on the title screen no ive done everything i can think of ive un-installed and re-installed restarted multiple times i removed my friends fps fix (to my surprise the game worked without it now) and tryed that still nothing i went to the workshop in garys mod and i could browse but if i clicked on install it seamed like i was clicking a null button. nothing happened and i have no subscriptions in the in game workshop but when i went out of the game and into the workshop through steam it said i had them subscribed still so i got the idea to force the add ons into my game so i copyed all my friends downloads and put them in my add on folder still nothing so i removed them and started joining sandbox severs now this is the interesting part when i left and when back solo i had an add on just one but still very much an add on and it worked! but i did not subscribe to this add on nor do i know where to find it it just appeared so then i decided to join my friend and see if i could do the same with his add ons even if it was just one again it worked! i have no idea how but it did now i had 2 add-ons at this point that i did not subscribe to or download so i thought problem solved it would be an inconvenience but i could live with it but when i turned my computer back on this mourning there was nothing no add-ons nothing. please help me out i have no idea what else to do thanks

oh my gosh i have had the same prob i subscribe it downlodads but nothing worked in the game i dont know if i have too many addons but they dont work

i have an even bigger problem i got all the addons installed or re-installed i guess and i keep starting up the game but the mouse doesn't show up so i can't click start new game is this the computer or the game or both the model is a sony vaio laptop

im downloading addons on the workshop but its not downloading,even i downloaded addons on garrysmod.org, i put it on the addons folder and the addons are not working i think its the game or i think theres a addon limit.

okkkk i can download addons not in the workshop.the workshop is the problem.

There is a few solutions you can try to fix the issue

1. Switch to steam beta branch (forces steam to update) (dont forget to switch back also test it out what works for you everybody is different)


2. top right screen tap steam"settings", "downloads", change your download server/region
(Do not forget to switch back) (switching back atm thou might cause the issue to happen again so test it out) and use sense if your from the EU stay in the EU servers.


3. do a full steam refresh without deleting your games (start,Run, (type steam://flushconfig)

also if a Addon is locked in a state of download at 0/bytes unsub form the mod before you do any of this and make sure to do the steam refresh Last when you have got rid of the stuck download, The stuck download should be your first priority to stop, Without stopping this none of the above will work (well it might but its best to stop it first), And turn off automatic updates while you do so you dont want a game updating and messing you up while you are attempting to fix this.


And remember every system is different so what works for one will not work for all.

All information i have posted here you can find on google from 2012-2014 steam forums people had the same issues back then!...


Edit: you can also try this i think TheRingers posted this on another post and it could possibly work also,

Go to steamapps, workshop and then erase the file that says acf 4000
And done.Hope that it works :).

Same thing happens on my Old PC. But im not sure if thats the problem.
