Is it legal to download CS:S textures?

I would like to play TTT. Would I get VAC banned?

I heard there's a pack of CS:S textures at Workshop, but I cannot find it.

I don't want to buy it. I don't like CS:S. I prefer other CS games. Source is just reskined 1.6 :(

it is legal half of the gmod community (not includeing me) doesn't want to buy a game just for simple textures garry'smod . org has css files perfectly fine for use as its just TEXTURES
while it is shunned apon from some people its perfectly safe

Better choice is to download the CS:S dedicated server (which contains the textures as well) and just mount that to GMod, that is the most "legal" way to go about it.

No, it's perfectly legal.
You'll be fine.
It's not being redistributed for money, and it's only material files. You're not getting anything out of it other than textures and models. The only thing that might be illegal about it is using them in things to make money off of.

If a user connects to a VAC-Secured server from a computer with identifiable cheats installed, the VAC system will ban the user from playing on VAC-Secured servers in the future.

Anyways if it is illegal to get the textures through the dedicated server nothing will be done about it anyway. I won't worry about until I get the official message from Valve demanding me to undo my very illegal and irresponsible actions that caused them to lose a very small percent of their already massive income. I would put some kind of pirating joke in but technically you can download the css textures for free without pirating, SO lesson for today is having the textures is completely legal, but using them will make Gabe Newell knock down your down with his real life banhammer. I hope we all learned something today.
