But seriously, I know your pain. There is little worse than opening Garry's Mod and not knowing what to do.
Are there any specific topics you're interested in? It would be a lot easier to make some suggestions if we knew what your interests are/what addons etc. you have.
Perhaps look at some of your old screenshots and try to improve them?
I have a bunch ov Vietnam, Korean, WWI, and WWII stuff/models, and if you view my previous artwork, you will see that I am mainly into stuff with guns xD. And I just learned the basics for screenshotting recently, so I am barely scratching the surface on how to take great screenshots. I would apriceate if you told me about any good techniequs you have!
Or you could make screenshots of your favorite video game or TV show characters, providing there are addons with a ragdoll model for it.
First, I recommend using the Camera tool located under Render to capture your scenes. This allows you to place a camera which you can move around and rotate any way you want. This helps with getting more interesting angles on your scene, as when using the handheld camera only you are more limited in your choice of angles.
Secondly, if you're not quite sure how to make a ragdoll do a certain pose, try finding a reference picture on the internet or attempting the pose yourself to see how to do it, as pose quality can make or break a scene.
Third, use post processing. There are various post process options in Garry's Mod which allow you to blur, add filters, or change the colour of the image along with other effects. For example, blurring the background of a scene can help the viewer's eye to focus on the objects etc. in the foreground. Add post processing effects AFTER you have finished everything else in your scene.
Four. When face posing, it helps a lot to try to make the expression you're going to use on your own face. This gives you a 'feel' for which face flexes to use. If still unsure, use reference pictures or a mirror. Face posing is vital for communicating a character's emotions.
Also, try looking at other people's screenshots for ideas, there's a guy called stabkamay who does a lot of WWII and Vietnam screenshots in Gmod, I highly recommend looking at his work. Also have a look at some of my work, I would really like to know what other people think of it!
(P.S. I'll be critiquing your screenshots that I feel can be developed and improved individually.)
(Also, spelling. *of *appreciate *techniques)
I hope these tips/suggestions help!
