No HUD is displaying.

I was playing Gmod, and then all of the HUD disappeared. The health bar, ammo count, weapon select, everything. The menus still work. Before you tell me to disable fast weapon select, I already did that, and I also typed the commands into the dev console, and nothing happened. I tried pressing C and using that menu, didn't work. I have restarted my game multiple times, my PC has even UPDATED and it is still broken, and I want to find a way to fix it without reinstalling the game. I have only had Gmod on this computer for a day or two. Keep in mind that this problem didn't appear when I installed it. It happened randomly while I was playing.

I have windows 10, which means I have DirectX 12 (I think)

8GB of ram

Over 100 GB of storage

I apologize for sounding like I am raging. If anyone could help, it would be awesome.

EDIT: It turns out that I get this glitch after I publish a dupe, IDK why.

The december update caused it. In my case, it's fixed by pressing esc and then esc again. I shouldn't have to do that, but it's not like the devs will notice because I already tried this when the update was NEW.

Back then, everyone was screaming about their anti-virus crashing/seeing as a virus/stopping gmod from launching and seriously, EVERY SINGLE DISCUSSION was about that. Because of that, the ones without broken anti-viruses that could launch the game ended up being overshadowed and we thought it'd be fixed in the next update.

Fast forward to January the update, and it also happened to be the day the server had issues, so everyone complained about addons, once again silencing the hud people. They aren't going to notice until they see it properly, and that's highly doubtful considering how many people pay attention to such a 'minor' (minor my butt) issue.

I noticed they are breaking a LOT more things than fixing them, lately. With this new update, I can't even CONNECT to any servers without the game crashing either as it's "Sending Client Info" or about 5 seconds after I successfully connect and start to walk around. This new update seems to have made a lot of stuff worse; multiple mods are acting weirdly and some just don't show up under any menus anymore since the December update. This update seemed to make everything worse, really. I'm not playing for a while, or at least until I can resolve my connection issue that is on the game's side, not mine. It's incredibly frustrating, too, because I want to play the game, but I can't play it(or at least how I really want to) for the crashes and errors and incompatibilities and all kinds of other problems! I guess I'll just have to tide myself over with Cities: Skylines or something else until these issues are fixed (hopefully, soon, if ever). >:(

I tried the command and it did not fix my problem. it said error failed to create gui component or something like that and it never gave me hud back

im haveing the same problem except I'm on a MacBook Pro running Mac OS Mojave version 10.14.3 and I never publish anything. it didn't happen when I first bought the game but it started happening after I downloaded my first couple of mods

so i found the problem in another discussion and the problem is you need to turn "Fast weapon switch" it is in advanced options :D
