It could be possible but since gmod is heavyily modified (Like TF2) Porting it won't be easy.
It's not a bad idea that it could be upgraded however the only problem i find with changing it to Source 2 Engine is that not everyones system supports it or can handle it for instance GTA V i believe uses Source 2 Engine which my computer can't run it as my video card CPU and RAM don't meet the requirments which if i HAD the money to get a good computer that does handle it then i would but i don't as i am sure other people are as limited as i am when it comes to getting something better than what they currently have which is the only problem i am aware of on having it upgraded

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHOLYSHITHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAAOHHOHOHOHOMANoh man...Wait... you serious?
Which is why i said ( i believe uses) meaning i wasn't sure but was trying to use a example and couldn't think of one
And after googleing Source 2 Engine discovered that it wasn't what i was thinking it was.
Reading and i qoute Garry's Mod needs to be moved to the Source 2 Engine so it utilize more cores and most of all more RAM. Made me think you have to have a very good computer to run Gmod if it was upgraded to Source 2 Engine
But i am glad that some of you found my mistake funny.

Are you running a 32bit OS if so how are people still using 32bit computers they are so outdated, and if your gaming you should really have a 64bit machine with at least 8GB of RAM

ports tend to be buggy it needs to be a rework not a plain old converson port.

There should be a way of coding the the game so that it can use all the old addons but run more and utilize more cores and most of all more RAM.
