Garrys mod update stuck

Before you say anything, i already installed the update days ago, but it says its updating now and it says ready to launch, but i wont let me start it. please help

i think i figured it out. it has to do with workshop content updating

Uninstall your game and install it again. Make sure you back up all of your addons.

Its the workshop content but how do i fix it?!

I found a solution which worked for me. Go into the garry's mod folder and run the game as administrator. Programs/Steam/steamapps/common/GarrysMod

Sorry to reboot an old thread, but this just happened to me and I think it's probably best to inform everyone reading this that all you have to do is go to SteamLibrary\steamapps then delete your downloads folder there, then go to SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod and delete the cache folder. Then reboot steam and the update will resume. Your welcome for future reference.

Just do what I said above and see if it works for you.

just go into the garry's mod files and then open it {where to find them} this pc > local disk (C:) > program files (x86) > steam > steamapps > common > garrysmod... then open the hl2 app in the files

this is so annoying because my computer dosnt have local disk and i payed for garrys mod and i was just about to be owner of a server so please help
