Try:
- turning up pc volume
- headphone volume (if they have a volume thing)
- go to settings in garrys mod then go to audio and select something like " 2 speakers " or " headphones" and click apply
- go to garrys mod settings then to " voice " and see if multiplayer audio is enabled
- plug headphones in if not already
- unplug and plug back in (headphones)
- check sound mixer, if you dont know what this is, find the volume icon in your taskbar right click it and it should say "sound mixer" make sure all audio is up to your preference (i hope this was clear enough for you to understand, it sounds confusing i know)
- reboot pc if all the above fails

- if your'e still having issues go sell your steam account to someone willing to buy all of your games and stuff, buy a farm and a horse, name the horse Steve, and live happily on a farm and die with no regrets

thats all the stuff i try when fixing my audio, this usually happens when you unplug and audio device while in game, or when plugging in a device in after the game loaded your previous audio settings

Hope I could help.

If you have a volume wheel (the scrollable wheel on your headset, keep scrolling it until you can hear, it worked for me

Fixed it, if you're in a beta and try all of this move to no beta that can fix it.

I don't know if Steve is a great name for a horse, but if you say so, on it.
also turn off silence audio when game is in background , hope that helps

sorry 4 necro but just had no audio issue as well, I figured out why but it makes no sense at all; restarted pc twice, updated audio drivers and restarted gmod with nothing working. I checked the windows sound settings and there is a setting at the bottom called "App volume and device preferences" that will show u what each applications audio in and out was and gmod had NOTHING in the output, not an old one I used before, just an empty box with no selection.
