.gma files not showing up in addons folder, even though addons work in GMOD
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling GMOD, but the addons never show up in my addons folder in the garrysmod folder.

It seems to be an issue with recently submitted or updated workshop addons. If you need to find the files they are being placed into steamapps>workshop>content>4000

This is a new thing in the update. Newly created or updated addons will be placed somewhere else, what Offgreenstum said. This is a good thing because they now take up less space.

and now the content is the workshop id meaning i now need to search instead of scroll to find the specific item i want

yaaaaay

I know this is an old thread and all but I just wanted to say that doesn't really work because the files saved in the workshop "content" folder are .bin, so they can't be extracted or opened manually
Because it was changed again. I have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue how it works now.

You can use a tool called "Garry's Mod Extractor 2020" . It works great for extracting the new .bin files. There's a good amount of info on the guide itself, but there are a few things you must find out about yourself

I'm going to automatically assume that the SteamPipe Update broke this.

nope

gmod-specific workshop update now directs all addons made past 2020 to steam's workshop content folder

see below for more
