Right click Garry's Mod in your Library >> Properties >> Local Files >> Verify Integrity.
Sounds like something corrupted and this should repair the file(s).
If that does not work then do the following: Check your mods to make sure you don't have anything that would cause such an issue.
If you do not have a single mod that's being unstable/glitchy then try to Factory Reset Garry's Mod by going to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod" and double clicking the file named "FactoryReset-GMod.bat".
If you have went through all the steps above and the game is still acting up, try to fresh reinstall Garry's Mod. Uninstall Garry's mod via the steam library, go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common" and delete the "GarrysMod" folder. (Steam usually does not remove game files from this folder after said game(s) was uninstalled). and then reinstall Garry's Mod, wait for all your mods to download from the workshop after launching, test a map to see if the issue is somehow still present.
tried all that from one of your other responses of another person asking
Ill be sure to try this once my power comes back on
Thank you for this! Had this issue, did the exclusion and it fixed it. Most appreciated.
Who can be give 600 tenge?
you dont uninstall Norton, you basically go to the scan history and find where it says awesomium_process.exe and you select it, go to more options, then select "exclude this file" button
what you do is go to the Norton application, go to Device Security and press the "open" button, go to "History," go through your history until you see "awesomium_process.exe," select it, press the blue underlined "options" button, and press the "exclude this program" button, fully delete/uninstall and reinstall the Gmod folders (go to the very top where Fearagen post is and read the final paragraph to do this) and your Gmod should be up and running
