Gmod screen freezes at random

Whenever I am playing gmod, at any moment the screen will randomly freeze, and sounds will repeat for a bit. It will then stay on the frozen screen, but sounds will continue as normal. I have to press the windows key to get out, and it will sometimes even disconnect my monitor from the PC, causing me to turn it off and wait a bit before it works. My graphics card is updated, and I have also gotten rid of many addons, including at one point all of my addons, but to no avail. I have no idea what is causing it and how to fix it, so if someone could please find a way that doesn't include downloading any software I would be glad to know.

This could be one of 5 things A virus/spyware,Firewall,Antivirus programs/antispyware,The Computer you have (Could be incompatabile with the game I doubt this one though),Or something else that is the issue.

Try Verifying Game cache.

Right click Garry's Mod in Your Steam Game Library,Look for the Button "Verfiy Game cache",After doing this it should fix.(hint in Local files as button "Verfiy Intergertiy Of Game cache")

I have learned that if you have a dual graphics card, it could freeze the frame, but the game continues normally.

I have the same problem except, it freezes for long ass periods of time repeating one sound. It'll stop freezing but it'll take ages so I just press my power button on my laptop and cancel the shutdown or let it shutdown and it closes Garry's mod since that is the only way to close it when it does that.
