Upgrading my GPU made Gmod have lerp issu
ok so i upgraded to a gtx 960 from my 560 ti and gmod has been so laggy the lerp bar were it tells me the lerp is at 100 ms. It suddenly goes yellow and my game drops from 160 fps to 10 it's so anoying cause it happenes every 5 seconds and i dont know how to fix it other source engine games work fine csgo gets 300 fps and TF2 about 200 and i know im on the latest driver update so dont tell me check your drivers trust me i have done every thing. And whats even weirder is i can run the new doom v sync on 60 fps max seetings (except nightmare settings) at 1080p so i dont know why gmod a game made from an engine that is 10 years old is giving me so much trouble

Please help.

I find that gmod is very smooth if I close everything except for steam, gmod, and 1-2 tabs of Chrome. Maybe it's because I use a fully-updated Macbook Pro.

reinstall your game. Games have a tendency to get confused when hardware changes. Believe it or not, my friend upgraded his monitor and he couldn't run any games (like gta 5 or fallout 4) even though his PC was completely able to. It would do exactly what your issue is, it would start on high fps and drop straight down to 1fps when it gets to the main menu.

It could be due to the amount of Garry's mod addons you have. If you have alot of addons on at once it's going to slow down your game. Trust me from experience.

I might know why your performance has decreased.
You plugged your monitor into your motherboard instead of the graphics card so are using Intel HD graphics!

Doom is run on a different engine on Gmod, and not only that, it is more optimized. You can't really compare the games.

Check to make sure that your system is using your dedicated GPU. Sometimes your PC will use Intel graphics until you tell it not to. Since you switched your card out, your PC probably just defaulted back to Intel graphics since it couldn't find you old GPU.
