Takes ages to join a Multiplayer Server

Whenever I try to join a multiplayer server the game starts downloading tons of addons and other kinds of things so it takes me at least 10 minutes to join a game, what am I doing wrong?

nothing, that's what happens on servers with custom content, once you've gotten everything from that server once though you'll connect to it again a ton faster.

yeah but unfortunately, the way gmod is, it's all custom content. But once you get the materials the load times are MUCH faster, trust me, the first time I played gmod it took ages and I hated it, afterwards, I could go on the same prophunt/murder servers with no problems.

It might also be how your computer handles Garry's Mod, if you have a good built computer and good internet that it wont take long to join into a server depending on what server wants you to download when logging in. Try joining servers that have kinda a plane name, they are most of the time vanilla Garry's Mod or have only a few small addons.

SOLUTION = 1. go to options. 2. click on tab "multiplayer" 3. Click on the "allow custom custom content" and select then "do not allow custom content". 4. profit.

and also gmod sometimes crashes my drivers when it loads, but when i play it doesnt
kill me

I really also need help with my problem. I tried going onto prop hunt server and it took me 20 minutes. Should we get a new version better so we make the whole game faster?
