Certain keys not working in only Gmod?

I'm having a problem where my backspace key, tilled key, and a few others are not working when I use them in game, but work perfectly outside of the game (like right now where I have the steam overlay and it works perfectly). I went to controls and reset keys back to default, but I still have the problem. If anyone could help, that would be amazing!

Not working in what way? Because they are keys that cannot be bound to custom commands. Since backspace is a command to remove existing options/key bindings in the options menu and the tilde key is for opening and closing console.

If I were to type a message in chat, the backspace key would not delete any text, and the key to open console doesnt work either in game (when you're not paused the key would pause and open console, but it doesn't. When I pause, the key to open console works then, but not when I'm actually like in the game.) I don't really know what's causing certain keys to not function properly

Are you using windowed mode by any chance?

Are you using windowed mode by any chance?

Apparently alt+tabbing when you have this issue fixes it, have you tried that?

When I alt+tab, it works fine, but in-game it doesn't work

I was trying to say alt tab out of the game and then back in and then trying but i see you've basically tried that already.

Sorry I was thinking shift+tab. No problem. I'm sure it'll be fine, thanks anyways tho

I've read over a few webpages regarding the issue and I've gathered:

-Alt+Tabbing out and then back into the game fixes it most of the time
-Changing keyboard language to something different and then back to the original works all the time
-Reconnecting to the server works all the time.

Go through some of these webpages and see if you find anything that works:
