Problems with GMOD 13 on Dell inspiration 17 5000 Series

so after a minute or two, the game will freeze for about 10-15 seconds, then it will only be on the one screen it was on as the game froze. i can do things, i just only see what i was doing the second prior to the freeze
this also happens for half-life 2, the episodes, tf2, and curiously enough, black mesa, the hl1 remake, runs perfectly on medium settings

Please do the following in this order:
- In the main menu, use menu_cleanupgmas
- Close the game, verify the game files of both Gmod and every game mounted
- Add -noaddons and -noworkshop to the launch options
- Start the game and load a map
See if it persists.

after i did all that stuff you told me to do, it gave me the same results after 6 seconds in.
i think something is just wrong in general

Please try re-installing the game completely this time.

After it finishes installing, try this again.
You can also add -mat_dxlevel 90/85/80/98 (choose one until it works) to your launch options afterwards. Also try adding -windowed to the launch options.
You can also try going into the Chromium beta branch and start the game in either -32 bit or -64 bit corresponding to what your computer runs on.

thanks, the game runs almost perfectly 80% of the time, and when it breaks, it usually crashes so its much easier to reset the game. thank you very much for the help!

If it ever crashes, you could use CTRL + ALT + DEL and either sign out, restart, or turn off to close the game. Also, glad to hear it!
