I tried the first method and it does not work because I can't even find any running program that is called igmfx or something like that.
Second method seems to have taken me back a few steps because I deleted the game on steam by clicking uninstall and that did absolutely nothing but gray out the name of the game. So I got in my steam games folder and deleted the whole Garry's Mod folder. Restarted steam and tried installing gmod. I get the exact same error message and now there is a Garry's mod folder back in my games folder but it contains a whole load of nothing at all.
And thrid method is what I am doing now I believe
