VAC Connection Error Kicks Host
Why did I just get disconnected from a private P2P session I was hosting because of some VAC connection error? For one, this is a sandbox game, and for two, I am the host. Why am I being kicked from my own game? I didn't even ask for VAC protection.

I was planning on saving the state of all the spawned props in the map, but first I needed to travel over to where some Simfphys vehicles were to delete them.

If it keeps happening, try going to your GMod launch options and adding -insecure

Huh. I might do that anyways, since I don't believe I actually need VAC. Especially given I'm only playing either by myself, or with friends.

Just to confirm, this will only disable VAC, correct?

Yes, that's the parameter for dedicated servers and I haven't tested to see if it works outside of servers but it's worth a shot. It'll only disable VAC

Yep it does! But you will be unable to join servers that have VAC enabled. So there's a chance when you create a server it'll kick you for not having vac enabled because you need to change a value for the server independently. We'll figure that out if you run into it.

Well, I don't plan on going to any servers. Just ones I host from within my own game.

It's still rather silly to kick the host for a VAC connection error. Especially an hour or two into the session.

Thats a different issue. He's losing connection to vac, vac isnt kicking him.
Probably a firewall issue. Refer to https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7579-RPSX-6098&l=english instead.

Actually, I'm willing to be it has something to do with either an quick internet outage, or the fact that I was tabbed out in another application for a while with only 4 GBs of RAM. Though probably related to the first, as I don't see how a memory related issue would cause a VAC error.

Yeah memory really wouldnt contribute to that. Its an issue with the connection and... "shrugs". This isnt really my field.

I have a wired connection going to my modem, so any errors would have to have come from the ISP. There was one time the internet was out for a week, and it took us calling them to find out their switch board (or whatever it was) was busted. Couldn't give us a courtesy call.

I dont think the ISP could prevent something like that. But im not sure. Sounds more like a third party program blocking the connection or an antivirus?
ISP's are kinda like that. Usually they focus more of their resources on fixing the issue instead of calling every customer to let them know that somethings up.

I was just saying that it could've just been that the packet of data didn't get transmitted or received properly due to a small internet connection error.
