Red X's in place of particles?

I'v been having these red X's explode out of my npc's when they perform certain actions like attacking other npc's or creating explosions. iv looked all over to try and find a way to fix this but it doesn't seem like many others are having this issue. It's becoming frustrating to the point i don't want to play gmod because these x's take up so much visual space when i'm playing. any advice would help, i'm not knowledgeable on how particles work but i will try anything.

This is happening to me too, I've verified the file integrity and run -noworkshop as a launch option. Still a problem.

navigate to the GarrysMod/garrysmod folder and delete both the PRESETS and the SETTINGS folders. Then VERIFY INTEGRITY of game files. and the x'es should go!

Fixed nothing and now im missing my spawnlists

im still having this problem to this day, and i can't find anything on it. the x's don't show up when i play online only in single play. i really don't play solo anymore because of this issue.

I did so, it didnt fix it

Found out the issue is just too many addons that create too many particle effects. You have to remove addons that come with a large amount of special effects. I had to remove a lot of my NPC addons and other effect addons. i don't have the issue as long as i dont have too many subscribed.

Did you verify the integrity of gmod's files?

If that doesn't help, put -noworkshop in gmod's launch options and then start gmod. This disables workshop mods to find if mods are causing the problem or not.

Both these things are found by right clicking Garry's Mod in the game library and going to properties. Set Launch Options is a button under the general tab and verifying is done under the local files tab.

The same thing happened to me, i had an addon that was called "Realistic Blood " or somthing like that DELETE IT it is causing those red X's
