Auto-Disconnect in 30 Seconds... Lost connection
Hello guys,

since a few weeks I have a problem with gmod on my notebook.
Everytime I join a server I'm able to play, but only for 1-2 minutes.
After 1-2 min of playing (always 10-30ms ping), the game freezes and I get the "Auto-Disconnect"-message in the upper right corner. And finally the "Lost connection" message.
This happens on EVERY server.

On my Desktop-PC everything works fine, so this must be a problem with gmod, steam or the notebook itself, but as far as I can remember everything worked fine before and they where no changes made in the game, the system, the network etc. that could have caused this problem.
I also thought that it's may the fault of my ISP or my router but nope. The exact same thing happens in 3 different networks (Lan & wifi, both).

Here are some things i've already tried:
✔️ Verify Integrity of Game Files
✔️ Un- and re-install the game
✔️ launch without windows firewall
✔️ try servers with srcds and servers with steamcmd
✔️ launch game with second gpu
✔️ tested multiple networks & multiple network settings (wifi & lan)
✔️ change dxlevel
✔️ cl_timeout 0 .. it will just load forever and won't do anything until i type "retry" into the console
✔️ re-install steam

.....and some other things.

What is causing this?
Is there any command in the console which will show me ALL output.
Like an output about WHY the connection timed out?
With googling I couldn't find any helpful solutions for this.
I really hope someone can help me out. This is really annoying and demotivating.

Hoping for answers,
-Kenny

--------updates-------

[update #1]

strange... i have 2 phones from 2 different network operators.
i tried to play gmod using the wifi-hotspot of my phones.
Both phones give the same result. Connection lost after about 30sec to 2min.

But the strange thing is.... connected to my home network via wifi, everything works.
i can play continuously, spawn hundreds of props and npc's without getting a timeout.
i don't see any reason why my mobile hotspots wouldn't work, since i already often played xbox-, ps- and pc-games with it.
it's also strange that 2 out of 3 internet providers have this problem.
it doesn't seem logical to me. Maybe it's somehting with my NIC? (I'll check this out)

[update #2]

few more things i tried
none of them did work...
✔️ a few more cl_ settings
✔️ update lan adapter driver
✔️ deactivate all unused network connections

[update #3]

tried some more things
✔️ lanch hl2.exe as admin
✔️ rename the "GarrysMod"-Folder and re-download Gmod without any addons etc.
✔️ steam: delete download cache
✔️ run "FactoryReset-GMod.bat"
✔️ using "windows 7 compatibility mode" on win 10
✔️ change language of game
✔️ launch steam as admin
✔️ Launch parameters: -noaddons -noworkshop -safe
-noaddons = No Addons
-noworkshop = No Workshop-Addons (*.gma files)
-safe = Safe Mode

Does the problem still continue? There's been a couple of updates recently.

As expected, windows 10 has tons of issues with games, especially old ones, windows 7 ftw.

I'm having the same issue here. It kind of happens to depend on how much time does your game take to load and get into a server. In my experience, with my desktop computer it's been taking quite a lot to get into servers, and when I finally get to join, I just get the connection lost message.

I sadi it's related to the computer performance because in my laptop I've been able to join way faster than with my computer, and I've never experienced the lost connection error.

So, as I see it, there has to be something we can do to improve the loading time the game has in certain servers so that we can join and stay connected

(My desktop computer isn't bad at all, just in case)
