High end pc cant run garrys mod?
Recently I just switched over to a new computer so I can make better garrys mod videos with high fps. When I got all my stuff downloaded, I loaded up garrys mod only to find Im getting only 30-40fps. Currently, I only have 200 addons that dont have any problems or issues. I even tried deleting them all but still the same results. I dont know if this is a computer problem or a source engine problem, I hope someone can help me with this...

Computer Specs:

-Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7300HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz, 2501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

- Installed RAM 8.00 GB

- System: Windows 10

- Display Drivers: Intel(R) HD Graphics 630
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti With 4GB

- SSD 256 GBS

I hope someone has a solution to this...

You don't need more then 60 fps to run an old game. If it looks good, it's fine... Jesus

I use D3DGear for recording, it can usually bring it down to under 30 fps

Then that's the recording software fault...

Just because it's good, doesn't mean it won't have problems..

the games fps will never be that good no matter what since the game only uses 1 core and the source engine isnt meant for these type of pc you have to deal with it and if the recording lags do some editing to make it 1080p 60 fps video

When custom maps are made sometimes the default skybox texture is left in the package this means your computer loads this massive default skybox aswell as the custom skybox. So type in console r_3dsky 0 it gives anywhere from 10 - 30 fps boost depending on the map :steamhappy:

If you dont trust me when you restart your gmod as it will reset back to r_3dsky 1 you will need to either make an script to set it 0 everytime you boot up gmod OR you will have to type it in console everytime you boot up gmod

well the more addons you have enabled the lower fps you get.

With 250 Addons i get around 25-45 Fps and with 50 addons or maybe 60 i get 50-80 Fps

There are so many mods i like but can't enable them all cause Fps drop so i started to play around 50-70 adoons active instead of 250 so i would recommend you to play with less addons.

And if you having problem try to disable them all in the addons section. And i have everthing maxed on settings.

The only addons that should effect FPS are script based addons

first: that pc is middle or even budget this is not even close to high end

second: gmod uses mainly cpu and only one core of cpu so rest of that cpu is basically unused you can have newest cpus i9 ect but that wont do anything

and the last one: you dont see any diffrence between 60 and 30 fps in gmod cause its graphic sux animations of most addons arent complicated so 60 fps is moooore than enough for gmod
