Issues when trying to bring up playermodel/spawn menu D:

My friend recently bought Garrys Mod but she is having a problem when trying to change her playermodel or spawn items. When you press "c" to bring up the menu where you change your playermodel, the top bar appears and the "playermodel" icon appears too but when she tries to click the icon or top bar it dosent respond and the menu disapears instantly. the same happens when trying to bring up the menu to spawn items. We looked online, deleted and re-downloaded the game, changed the controls, disabled addons in case one was bugged etc. but we havent been able to find an answer, or even anyone with the same issue.. If anyone has had the same issue or might have any ideas/advice on how to solve the problem we would be really grateful as we both love playing this game, thanks

Here's some addon that enhances player selection menu, I haven't used it but maybe it'll override some glitched function and make it work.
Another option is changing it by console command cl_playermodel <model name>. Remember sv_cheats has to be set to 1.

thanks for your suggestion, my friend is able to change her skin via console but the addon diddnt solve the problem, thanks so much anyway ^-^

That's good, hope when she changes it in singleplayer for example it stays that way when she joins servers. In that case it's solved basically, the only thing needed is to provide her with the right playermodel, you can check it in your player model selection window or she can dig through some files in spawnmenu and she'll find it eventually.

we have tested and the playermodel does stay when she joins servers, the same issue occurs when opening the spawn menu however, so she cannot spawn items either :/

(I am the friend she is referring to.) When I press C, the player model, Drawing and NPC's buttons appear, however when I click them, nothing happens. The same thing happens when I press the Q key and when I try to put objects in, nothing happens ;(

Well, seems like you just installed the game, have you downloaded addons from Workshop already? Maybe one of them is causing the issue (old or glitched).

Also you say nothing happens, but doesn't something pop up in top-left corner of your screen? Open your console (~) and try to provide the log from there right after doing some action that's supposed to work.

we have uninstalled all addons but the problem still occurs
