in all source games, models are stored the "models" folder. however, their content that are the base for unmodified content , are stored in vpks. gmod, being a mod of hl2, has most of the models from hl2's vpk. if oyu're looking for gmods specific models, you'll find them. but for the hl2 and other game related models, you'll have to look in their respective vpks.

literally in there, however, that folder is for custom content. if you are looking for gmod models that come with the game, those are in vpks.

if there is no models folder, that means you have no custom models. just create a models folder :)

Thanks, I'm trying to make a Nextbot NPC(personal) and I am trying to give it a custom Model.

I found it. In the "garrysmod" folder, go to "settings", then "spawnlist_default". There, you should find a bunch of text documents. The one you want is named "017-characters". It shows the names of all default character models.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
