Gmod crash : Failed to lock INDEX buffer

So if i join a server by the sending client info it freezes and 2 minutes later the game crashes and says : failed to lock index buffer in CMeshDX8::lockindexbuffer . Can anyone help me with this i have now 63 addons and it still crashes

Try running your game in direct x 9 instead of 8.

Right Click on Garry's Mod -> Properties -> General -> Set Launch Options

Did you change anything in there, that could cause your game to use Dx8 instead of 9?

If yes, remove the line running dx8. Otherwise, try bumping your hardware version to dx11.

Fun fact, exactly same message is seen on Linux. So it's probably just an artifact of old code naming.

My DirectX was 7, I am currently trying DX9, GMod is loading.

I am good with tech, and it means that the addons/textures can't run on the DirectX you have your game set to run, if it says DX8, that means that you need a higher version than DX8. The DX version affects the graphics, as well as the textures. The error message used to not pop up, it came up, and I could troubleshoot the error.

Results - Game Crashed anyway, but the game commands might be changing the DX Level back to a lower veesion.

I had this issue too and i found out the TFA addon causes it. Do you have it installed?
