Can Portal be installed on a different drive ?
I have just bought the Portal bundle and at the moment downloading Portal 2 to my HDD. However I have noticed that Portal can only be installed on my SDD (where my main steam install is). Is it possible to some how get it on my HDD or not ?

Yes it is, just go to Steam>Settings>Downloads>Steam Library Folders>Add a library Folder

Then, try to install portal and in the drop down menu select the one you just added.

Hope this helps.

No, it doesnt help. It does not matter what you have for settings for other drives when steam is installed with its base folder under C:. This is a rather unsightly bug on Valve's part and portal is by no means the only game with this issue. I find it rather hard to believe that a gaming company doesnt understand limited install space with modern SSD's for operating system and application installs, and a traditional HDD for less frequently used game and media storage.

Hell, I even have two SSD's, and I cant install onto my second SSD because steam requires certain games to be installed only onto C:.

Why cant they fix this?

Actually, I've been able to successfully install both Portal and Portal 2 on my external hard drive. If you've already installed it onto your computer, uninstall it, reinstall it, and when you're at the part where you select a folder, you can select your drive.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't work for you. . .
