It's kept ambiguous whether he's dead or not. He was indeed shot and then managed to drag himself to a stasis chamber, though I don't think it had "no power" - he reactivated the auxiliary power.

He was alive in Portal 2. He was sending messages and drawing murals and such.

THAT WAS A FRAKEN TURRET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND RATMAN IS DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND DONT ASK RAT MAN TO KEEP SOMETHING SECRET FROM THE COPS BECUASE HE WILL RAT YOU OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he's dead, in the lab rat comic the power is turned of after GLaDOS is defeted and chell and all the other test subgects are still in there beds, so rattman links power to chell but meaning she will only wake up if some on comes and whakes her up wich is why in portal 2 chell wakes up several years later and is why everyone is dead but her, then the rattman climes into a pod thing that looks like what chell gets out of at the start of portal and goes to sleep but did not send power to him self so he is dead

The broadcast radios are only part of a promotional advertisement of Portal 2 nothing more. Are not relevant with the story at all. These transmissions are morse code and SSTV signals. In any case, these signals are automatic and come more from Aperture Sicence than from Doug. Therefore Doug don't need be alive to permit that these signals can continue transmitting.

On the other hand, all the murals were done before Portal 2

Check the comic and start thinking and find info about the radios on internet. If you don´t believe me.

The broadcast radio from Portal 2 is a SSTV signal that explains the promotional advertisment. But, in your favor, there are other signal where you can see a companion cube at the Moon. And in your favor, I can say too that, maybe, Aperture was asking for help like an emergency protocol. In any case is Aperture not Doug, in any case, all this, is automatic not manually. This info came from one morse code. So still being ambigous the destiny of Doug like you see.
what about the companion cube in portal 2 how near it you here music and since he has a lot of story with the compaion cube could he be the one who put it there or sending the music to it if he is still alive???

He's STILL ALIVE!

Look, do any of you remeber the first Rattman den you come across in portal 2? The one with the Portal Gun in it? Well (and you can even replay that level to find out) if you look up after you grab the Portal Gun, you'll see a mural with the cycles of the moon. This is a refrence to the fact that the Portal Gun can shoot a Portal to the moon, as done at the end of the game. And since it's obvious that Rattman knew this, after his rest in that pod, he went back to that mural room, found the Portal Gun, fired a Portal to the moon, but somehow left the Portal Gun in Aperture. Leaving himself stranded on the moon (wouldn't have helped much anyway since you can really fire a Portal on anything else but moon rock).

No, the portal would have sucked everything around it violently into spacelike it did at the end of the game. Rattman was obviously obsessed with Luna, but it is highly improbable that he actually got there. And if he did get to Luna, he's dead because he most likely didn't have a spacesuit on. Even if he did, he probably didn't bring enough air. Sorry about the quotation marks, the tags weren't working.

Well, when GLaDOS exploded in Portal, the Main power grid also exploded, he tries to save Chell by reaching the Cryo-Control center but without the advice from the Companion cube he fails and is shot by a turret and falls unconcious. When he wakes up his companion cube tells him he can save Chell by patching her Cryo-chamber to the reserve grid and saves Chell from death but he dies after a uncertain amount of time....

How do i know this information you may ask? well i was the turret who shot him, it was rich..
