Stuck in Advanced Chamber 18 at Last Section

Hello. I'm completely stuck at the very last section of Advanced Chamber 18, the part with the platforms that you fling yourself up into and that go down into the goo as you go. My problem is that I can't seem to find the next platform in time to place a portal - every time I wind up unable to find it and dropping back down with the portals closing because the earlier platform sank. It feels like my camera isn't cooperating with me, because I have to fight it to look around and try to find the platform. I'm confused because on tutorials people make it look so easy! I've tried switching the axis of the mouse in options, but no dice.

Has anyone else had this problem and/or found a fix, or have tips?

I found that it helps to look straight down into the last portal you make and then when you pass through it, going up, turn to the next platform and open the a portal when it comes in sight. I was having trouble getting high enough to open the next portal, but facing down increased my height. I don't know why.

Avoid entering a floor portal feet-first (looking sideways) if the exit portal is going up, as the game will then be forced to spin you around (the "fighting the camera" problem that can cause motion sickness in some players).
Looking straight down (or up) will prevent that.

See, I try to look straight down but when I come back out of the portal, I can only seem to look around in one direction - the wrong direction from the platform. The camera actually shakes when I try and turn the way I need to - I always need to wait to go back through the portal out the other way, then come back in to be able to look around myself properly. Obviously this won't work when I only get one chance per platform to portal. I almost feel like it's some sort of glitch! Thanks for the advice, though. I'll keep trying, frustrating as it is.

Your Portals should not be disappearing. There does seem to be a glitch. A Portal only disappears when you open a new Portal of that color or pass through a energy field.

Did you ever solve this? I am having the same problem. When I come out the exit portal, the camera won't move in reaction to my commands. It shakes a little, but won't allow me to look in any new direction until I fall back through the portal and then it's too late.

I just got through it. I found that if you are NOT looking down into the portal when you go through it, the camera won't stick as badly. It seems to still stick a little in the vertical diretion, but not in the horizontal which is the more important axis so you can turn left or right to find your next platform. It took me a few tries, but I was finally able to retain enough control that I was able to get through it. You only need to reach the fourth platform. Then you can get to the exit from there with a pause in the flinging. If you choose to keep trying, good luck!

Solution:
I just bought this game and was quite disappointed after experiencing the above mentioned shaking/resistance seemingly making this level impossible. However follow these tips and you'll breeze through it!!
1st~SharpCoder is correct, keep your view horizontal to avoid the resistance when aiming.
2nd~Be sure and jump down (not drop) off the ledge to build that little bit of extra momentum (you'll need it).
3rd~After jumping off the first ledge stop using your movement joystick completely until your done. This will allow you to drop repeatedly back and forth though each portal, no lie I was bouncing around for about five minutes on my final successful attempt.
4th~May seem obvious, but be certain to alternate to the next color portal between each platform or else you'll lose all your momentum and have to start over when the portal below you disappears.
5th~You may get off on platform #4 (labeled 3) as SharpCoder stated (that's what I did and it worked) the key is you have to shoot the next angled platform with color one then jump down to platform #2 (labeled 1) shooting your landing spot prior to impact with portal color two. A "likely"better solution however would be to keep bouncing between the platforms and shoot the angled platform with the next portal color while at the high point from bouncing between the two platforms previous.
