Portal glitch

I m trying to complete the challenges and I m having trouble with chamber 16. I read about a portal glitch that would make the chamber easier to beat with the least amount of time but i dont know how to perform it.
If anyone knows how please tell me. I would apreciate.

Place the portal as close to the wall as you can, after that aim at the edge of the portal closest to the wall, and try to find the place where the orange part of the crosshair lights up, and shoot there.
