My screen is too zomed in. Can someone help?

I recently downloaded the first Portal game on my PC. I created a shortcut for it on my desktop, but every time I try to reach it through the short-cut, the screen zooms in to the left and the window becomes smaller. Even when I exit the game, the screen stays that way. I can't fix it because when I open the window for graphics properties, the options are out of view and thus unreachable. I've tried adjusting the properties of the shortcut itself so I can get the game to open in a small window, but it won't give me the option. I've also tried opening it without the short-cut on Steam and it just gave me the same thing. Someone please help. I just want to play my game. :(
Update: Discovered something new. I can close the game when I am in zoomed in mode. When I do, the screen goes back to normal.
