How to shoot the red/orange portal?

According to the Options page this is done with Mouse Button 2 (Right mouse button). But whether is that button or any other one I've tried, it doesn't shoot it.
Am I supposed to earn it first through achievements, or do I need to find another weapon part that will allow me to shoot the red/orange portal?

you have to unlock the ability to shoot orange portals by playing the game. when you first get a portal gun you can only shoot blue portals

You'll come to a test with a portal gun on a pedestal shooting orange portals, get it and you have a dual gun. Not going to say more as spoilers....

I guess I'm one test before that "orange portals portal-gun on a pedestal".

I am at the 1st place with 2 big red buttons on the floor (the ones that open doors). I have 2 cube blocks to place on each red button. Except one of the cubes is on top of a hydrolic platform against a wall. Facing this platform there's another platform on the oposite side of the room, same dimensions, but with an orange portal on the adjacent wall. I can choose where to put the blue portal, but I can't change the orange portal's location. It's present location is rather useless.
