If your touchpad work's there then it should work for any source-engine-based game.
I see no reason why it shouldn't work, but you can try the demo first. (Safety first ^^)
If you are using it for a long time then you will learn how to use it properly.
However, you could use F6 and F9 for Quicksaving and Quickloading
I know, it is just as easy to buy a mouse for this question, and I am pretty sure you have already have purchased a mouse for this question. But more or less, some people will find it intriguing to level up the ante by using other contraptions to work with some games (I recall the late Technoblade who demonstrated Minecraft gameplay using a steering wheel, which magnanmously worked!) The level of skill for using touchpads is similar to driving or just to stretch it abit, like driving a a crane through a highway (my younger sister plays COD on her phone and seems to feel comfortable playing like so. I am still intrigued by the idea but I still preferred PC gaming overall.)
Anyhow, do not forget to just have fun with it, okay? Be well.
