well - Portal isn't optimised for 4K..
idk if you could do that but if you could simulate a - let's say FHD - in full screen. This way it stretches up the FHD sized screen to 4K - it is however a quality loss.. or just listen to glados ... who dafuq needs subtitles :D

All Source engine games have a file (resource/clientscheme.res) that stores font settings, I managed to edit it the values in it to make the subtitles bigger (originally they were around 25, I changed them to 80).

Here's a before/after on my resolution:

If you want to try it download this file:

And put it in this folder:

Steam \ SteamApps \ common \ Portal \ portal \ custom

Now just start the game.

I only tested it on my laptop so hopefully it looks big enough in 4k.

Well, Portal 2 is on a newer version of the engine after all.

I tried it,but it isn't effect.Subtitle size is still same.
I copied "clientscheme.res" from Portal\hl2\resource and moved that to Portal\portal\custom.Then I changed "tall" parameters on series of "CloseCaption_".

Portal doesn't use the clientscheme.res file in the hl2/resource folder.
It uses a different copy of the file located within the "pack" archive:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Portal\portal\portal_pak_dir.vpk

To view or extract the file, you will need to download and run GCFScape:
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/GCFScape

Once you have extracted and edited the file with the new font sizes, move it into this folder:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Portal\portal\custom\my_mods\resource\

The folder "my_mods" can have any name that you choose.

When mmod is used, the subtitle size does not change.
Where do I edit to increase the subtitle size in mmod?
Or please tell me the console command.
