Portal for PowerPC?
Stupid question but is this game playable on something like a PowerMacG5. Despite being released for Mac back in 2010 (a while after PowerPC stopped selling) Would it run on a PowerMac? Running the latest version of Leopard that it can. Oh and also if it can... How can I get it to run in the first place, as of course I don't think I can download steam onto it... Unless theres an archive of steam versions, would it be possible? (This is an experiment, I want to push my PowerMac to it's limits to see what all I can still do on it! And if your thinking, its got an SSD and I'm going to be maxing out the ram on it, so other than graphics it *should* be capable of playing the game)

Yeah, im pretty sure you can run the game if you max out the ram. This game runs really well because there's not too much to render because its split up in different levels and such + there's not much action (i.e explosions, gunfire)

Huh, I didn't expect anyone to respond with "yes" honestly... Now I just need to figure out why Linux won't install properly...

I think it would be possible if somebody ported the Source engine to PowerPC OS X. Intel and PPC programs are compiled differently so they aren't all cross compatible.

There are no PowerPC versions of Steam, and as far as i know Valve has never anything for PowerPC. You're kinda out of luck there, sorry. :\

On a side note, how the hell is your G5 still alive? I thought those things dropped like flies.
Well it can't do much and I cant seem to get it onto linux sooo. It just kinda sit's around. I'm sure it's probably the liquid cooled ones that dropped like flies, heh. I saw a video of a guy who got a powermac g5, he plugged it in and the powe rsupply just popped. Turns out liquid cooled ones can leak into the power supply.

If the game wasn't compiled for an architecture, no amount of good specs will get it running. Source engine has not been compiled for PPC. You could build the beefiest PPC computer in the world and it still wouldn't run any source games without A) an emulator, or B) a binary of the game compiled specifically for PowerPC architecture.
