Stuck at test chamber 18: not quick enough ONCE AGAIN

This happened countless, yeah countless number of times, in countless number of games. I can try, try, try, try, try, tens, hundreds of times, it just does NOT work. In test chamber 18, you have to flip a switch and quickly open a portal for the energy pellet to enter into the hole and hit the catcher. The door remains open like 2 seconds and the pellet is thrown in a RANODM direction. Moreover, I regularly miss the switch when trying to flip it. WHY? WHY are the game makers ALWAYS doing that to me? This is really making me MAD! Is there any way to edit this level and make it doable? I searched, and cannot find anything. This is supposed to be a puzzle game, and then things like that kick in and ruin it.

I mean, I can decompile and edit the map for you, but, there would be countless errors and fixing it would be a nuisance. sv_cheats and noclip could help you, but make sure to disable them before entering a new level or map, since it would then not give you any achievements while sv_cheats 1 is enabled

if its to hard, you are probably doing it wrong. Also the pellets never go in a random direction.

Have you tried using the camera glitch or edge glitch? Those will let you skip the turret room entierly.

You just need to be a little faster mate

Or you could try the faster version of having the angled door launch you across (jump off the side), and then come to the bottom area via turret knockback then portal back to the main area.

Watch the above video ("chamber 18" section), there's a little segment showing how to do what I mentioned.

Open the portal for the pellet first, then close it. While it's bouncing, open the doors (get to each button via portal it's faster than running down). Hope I helped.
