Like I stated in my original post, I am not playing the bonus advanced levels. So that would mean that the chamber 15 that I see when I'm in-game should look exactly the same as everyone else's. Except, like I stated in my original post, mine does not. All of the floor tiles that you see when you walk into the main area of the chamber should be white. The Portal Wiki confirms this, as do every walkthrough I've read and watched. When I walk into the main area of the chamber, half of my tiles are black. Only the half of the tiles that are closest to the barrier are white. This does sound like that advanced map levels, but, like I originally stated, I am not playing the advanced map levels. I haven't even unlocked them yet, so it would be impossible for me to play them.
I ended up getting past the chamber, but I have no idea why it was different. If you're having trouble getting past that first barrier, you could try doing what I did. I placed a portal as close to the barrier as I could get (the closest tiles are black as well for me), and then placed a second portal on the floor of the room off to the left, where there is a drop. Then I jumped down into that portal, and went over the barrier. It took a few tries. Good luck!!
It is meant to be a more difficult version of the first room.
Finally passed it the same way that megstowe17 describes. For those of us who no longer have the reflexes of a teenager, it may take a lot more practice but eventually you can do it.
