Anyways this discovery was only brought up during my talks on steam chat with my cousin. My cousin and I were talking about Valve console port until I brought up "Portal on the original Xbox" then my cousin said something about a "Doritos Sweepsakes" on a demo disk with 3 demos. The disk had a deer hunting game from 2005-2006 and also Portal. Also I don't know about the other game but some versons of the disk had worms 3D. ONLY 200 - 2200 COPIES of this "Portal Xbox demo" are in this world. This is a very scary number but makes a very cool thing to own. Anyways here is how the sweepstakes worked, you go to the Doritos website and put in the number and then have a 0.01% of winning. This was SUPER late in the OG Xbox's lifespan but i guess Valve wanted to show of a demo. The only problem is that the game runs at 10 - 20 Frames but this was never to be a real game but just a demo to show of the portal gun. You must be thinking "Pics or Bull crap" but I got them right here

I don't have the tools to dump or even have the disk at the moment (at cousins house).
This will be dumped one day and will be very important to the OG Xbox homebrew community.
Seems like nothing more than early version of optimised portal.

I played Half-Life 2 on the original XBox, so not that surprising to see Portal there. Shame it never got released in the end, I didn't get to play it until much later.

That is beyond fake. The text at the end doesn't even have proper grammar. Also, there's no way that it would even be close to smooth on an OG Xbox.

The ISO IS ON Moddb. Do your research. My cousin my the video and his console is modded. This was my first post from 2019. This was the early 2006 build of portal from a sweepstakes. DOWNLOAD THE ISO.
My point still stands, this video is fake. By the way, did you even notice the PC hud layout? On any normal version, it would have the console hud, not the PC hud. I can tell this because the crosshair on the two platforms are different, and the footage shown just so happens to be using the PC crosshair. It is also being played in 16:9, while any Source game that is on the OG Xbox would be running the game in 4:3. Also, the framerate is far too high for it to be on the OG Xbox. Even Half-Life 2 on the OG Xbox ran at around 30 FPS. The footage in the video, however, was at 60 FPS.

Here's some gameplay of HL2 on the OG Xbox to prove my claims: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdPt3ob87-o

Also, Portal was never intended to be released on the OG Xbox in the first place. It was intended to be released with The Orange Box, and there were no intentions on putting that on 6th generation consoles.

The video was stretched out because my cousin has editing of a 7 year old and his xbox has a modded cpu. I understand if you say this is fake but I got other things to do than trying to change your mind. Your point still stands. He still will not give me the disk so I can dump another ISO because the old post was on moddb has a broken link. The fate of this disk is in the hands of my cousin and he is making sure I don't get the disk. Your point still stands.
The CPU has nothing to do with the game's resolution. Not only is that something controlled by the game itself rather than the hardware, but it is also only controlled by the GPU, NOT the CPU. Your "cousin" does not have the disk. You are a blatant liar.

I asked for the unedited verson of the video and i got it. Found out why he edited the video because he tried polishing it with a smooth filter and a sound filter. I does run like crap and the reason why it as the PC hud and crosshair is because the heath and ammo feature is not in portal and the old crosshair in the late 2005 verson was replaced. The reason this disk was made is to show of portal and the other games as a demo disk. Not to be on the xbox as full games.
Yes he does have the disk but he is trying to make another video without the capture card.

That isn't even a real link. Once again, you cannot have the crosshair with the five dots on any console version of the game, as the version of Source for consoles is different. The OG Xbox version of Source also only runs at 30 FPS, rather than 60. It is also locked to 4:3. The HEV suit HUD has nothing to do with the crosshair. You are a blatant liar.

I don't even know if this is real. I was told to post this a long time ago.
It's not. There was never a Portal version for the OG Xbox in development. If it existed, then a beta version of The Orange Box for the OG Xbox would also exist.
Ikagura Mar 26, 2020 @ 11:33am
Half-Life 2 ran on the og Xbox, I don't see why Portal 1 wouldn't run on it
