As they're all based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft the games are going to have a lot in common, and why many seem to think they're directly linked in some way.
I bought it when it first released and was fairly content with it, although after finishing it there's really not much replay value as the story is very linear and you move from one fairly closed location to another with no real side-quests or branching moments, other than say, choosing to enter a building via back door or sewer, neither of which really matter.
The endings are not worth replaying the whole game for considering what affects the outcome most of the time are trivial things like having a drink of whiskey or not, and even then your first ending is forced so you may already have run through one of the others without realising - best to just watch them on YT.
I still enjoyed the small time I spent playing it (12 hours), and might run through it once again just for the supernatural visuals, but I wouldn't recommend paying full price unless you REALLY like your Cthulhu Mythos.
Hope this helps (",)
