What is this game?
I was under the impression it was a remake of the old one, just with better graphics. But I'm seeing a lot of complaints that it doesn't do justice to the original game. So... its not just a remake, but an attempt at a reboot? Its too bad if thats the case, casue I never had the chance to finish the first one, and nowadays you have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get the old one looking half decent, and then theres that whole bugged part near the end thats nearly undoable on newer systems, so I've been putting off dealing with that since I had heard of a remake coming soon. Either way, the general consensus seems to be: that we should all wait for it to go below $20, or to just skip this game entirely.

It's neither a remake or reboot, it's a story in it's own right based on the Call of Cthulhu RPG.

As they're all based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft the games are going to have a lot in common, and why many seem to think they're directly linked in some way.

I bought it when it first released and was fairly content with it, although after finishing it there's really not much replay value as the story is very linear and you move from one fairly closed location to another with no real side-quests or branching moments, other than say, choosing to enter a building via back door or sewer, neither of which really matter.

The endings are not worth replaying the whole game for considering what affects the outcome most of the time are trivial things like having a drink of whiskey or not, and even then your first ending is forced so you may already have run through one of the others without realising - best to just watch them on YT.

I still enjoyed the small time I spent playing it (12 hours), and might run through it once again just for the supernatural visuals, but I wouldn't recommend paying full price unless you REALLY like your Cthulhu Mythos.

Hope this helps (",)
