Level up medicine and the occult

Specially checked the body of the whale with the 1st level of medicine, then restarted with 2. There were no differences. It is already impossible to check again, as I understand.

If I level up the medicine to the proper level, can I recheck what has already been verified?
And how to understand, did my skill enough when examining an object, or not?

For example, I want not to inspect the statue at the beginning, until I get the 2nd level of occultism, will something change?

It really depends and what you want, the whale one after 3 walkthroughs and 4 restarts (gonna start for the 4th ending) still never got the whale check right. As for the statue not much changes as it'll only tell you what you know about it in a way to confirm it. Also, You need a lot of Occultist skill for one ending so ye be warrned.

All checks are random, there is a percentage value shown in your skill menu. If it says 20%, then this is your chance. You can reload and try again, most checks don't really matter though. Also checks have minimal skill rank before you can even try it.

Also you don't revisit old locations in this game (when you do, those are different iterations which don't have the same interactions), so you won't be able to try the checks later.
