Theres one gun, with scarce ammo. As far as I know the game will play a lot like Amnesia trying to maintain your sanity. You wont be killing your enemies, you will be cowering from them.

hmm i install the original later today and play it and see how it plays fully. ty for the info though

The games focus is on investigation. A gun and ammo are available but only useful in narrow circumstances.

You mean Dark Corners of the Earth? You are aware that that's a completely different game that just happens to be using the same IP, right?
Well, it's based on the Chaosium RPG, so I would be really surprised if you get to use guns a lot... and survive.

I dunno man, last time I played CoC we were shotgunning byakhee out of the sky on the London docks. Depends on who's GMing.

so it's another "sit under the bed/in a closet untill the spook goes away" type of game + some puzzles/"investigations"? now at least I know it's not for me

btw when I saw the title I thought about something more like Dark Corners of the Earth or The Evil Within

The original Table Top game barely has combat anyways so it dosen't really matter imo

I once wrote a bunch of background notes for a Cthulhu campaign that never happened, which included a spell called "Call Power of Two-Gun Bob" described as follows:

This spell consumes all bar one of the caster's MP; duration is one turn for each point expended. For the duration the caster does not regenerate MP and cannot cast spells (or otherwise lose the last remaining point) but s/he instead wields the power of Two-Gun Bob which is far more dangerous to Mythos monsters. This spell essentially creates a paradigm shift for the caster and everyone else in the immediate vicinity; we are still in a Mythos story, but it is a Mythos story written by Robert E. Howard. Gribbly things with tentacles stand in real danger of having said tentacles cleaved off with a broadsword or battleaxe. Any SAN checks for the caster are made normally, but on a successful check, no SAN is lost; on a failed check, the caster incurs the SAN loss that would normally result from a successful check, and enters barbarian rage (lasts 3 rounds, plus one fo every SAN point lost.

It had funs but it was certainly not an fps, besides one section that degraded the game significantly after the strong opening.

Call of Cthulhu 2018 has nothing to do with CoC:DCoTE, there's no "original game", those are just two games based on the same thing but with a different approach.

The old one was an OK game until it turned into a more classic FPS, then it became quite bad. Also you can bet that most Lovecraft fans don't want a shooter because it makes no sense in that universe.

Why do people keep saying "the original game" as if this Call of Cthulhu is a remake of it? Yes, they both use the Lovecraftian mythos, but that's all they have in common.

Original game = first game.

Doesn't mean it made by the same company it means it was the first game with the name.

And i enjoyed the original a lot, but i like fps.
