The art, style, music and atmosphere of this game are amazing. The game itself tells a subtle story about two simple characters that are looking to gain their freedom, while being watched by a being called the Prism. The game itself plays nicely, eases you into levels while slowly increasing difficulty. The story tells itself in a subtle way, explaining what has happened before and who the characters are. The music and artwork create a very calm atmosphere, with beautiful environments. As the game progresses you lose and unlock different abilities, which makes the game's playstyle and content constantly move around and change. Overall this game is great, could use a little tweaking when it comes to options menu's though.

I am about 2/3 trough the game but I am not willing to play it any more.

Totally buggy and unpolished controlls, too many bugs for game to still be enjoyable. And sice only thing game offers is platforming, and story, music, etc. is just basic, there is really no reason to play it.

Every 6-8 levels game introduces diffferent mechanism. For example gravity switch mechanism has not one but three bugs - a) when switching gravity up, it stops horizontal movement (but only when switching it up), b) when gravity is down, you can "hold" to a wall when pushing to it (but not when gravity is up), and c) after you die, sometimes level resets with one of your pixels having wrong gravitiy direction, leading to you imediately dying again. Other mechanism have bugs too.

In fact, game is not polished at all. Level design is has unpolished parts that are not difficult but annoying and even level transition is unpolished and looks like it was glitching.

While not particularly plot-oriented, Prism does weave a loose tale of pixels on the run, trying to free their brethren from captivity. Along the way, you'll learn how to use both in concert to cross chasms, toggle switches, and adapt to a wide range of mechanics that switch every 5-10 stages. In water stages, the pixels can grow and shrink on contact, enabling you to reach great heights. In desert stages, you can deflect light beams to toggle deflectors. In moon stages, you your pixels melt or freeze blocks depending on their temperature (color). In jungle stages, you can flip gravity on the fly with vertical keys. As you solve your way through these and more, you draw ever closer to the ominous four-eyed prism in the distance, culminating in a final boss "fight," more puzzle than action. The game concludes with a sad but hopeful ending.

In terms of atmospheric voxel artwork and chill backing tracks, Prism hits most of the right notes. The attempt to cram so many mechanics into bite-sized chunks will constantly grab your attention, though it can lead to frustration with its fluctuating difficulty. One gravity stage in particular requires razor-thin margins of error to reverse your pixels from hurdling offscreen, liable to demand dozens of attempts to perfect. Another light-beam stage needs you to hit two sensors at once, but if you don't time it just right, the beam disappears. The solution requires perfect understanding of how its pixels scatter, and you're not given much practice to catch on to this nuance. Thus, the game's variety is its double-edged sword, leading to some of the existing negative reviews. But other than the gravity blocks respawning in motion occasionally, I encountered nothing game breaking, and with a little bit of patience, worked out what needed to be done to advance.

On the topic of negatives, where does The Prism fall short? For one, the game is dated, and by design runs in a very low resolution. This may stretch/skew the display, and effects legibility of text. There's no options to run it windowed or alter the key binds. Despite its interesting and ever-changing pixel powers, there are a large number of filler stages that require you to do little more than walk left to right to proceed. And finally, its core feature of controlling two pixels at once sadly goes ignored by a decent number of stages, allowing you to proceed by merely using one.

As a whole, this indie may fall into a more mediocre category, but considering its incredibly low price, it's hard to argue that it doesn't deliver an interesting hour of play. If you're a platforming fanatic, then it's most certainly worth your time. Collectors will be pleased by profile count and card drops, though others may be disappointed in the lack of achievements. On sale, the value is even better.

The game is pretty good; I do recommend this game at a highly discounted price! The ambiance of the game is definitely the best part, the maps were well done and the music added to the tranquil pixel puzzler experience.

You play as 2 blocks that must assist each other in accomplishing levels. The gameplay is simple but challenging. There is a storyline but it was too sparse for me to care or comprehend. You must use duel pads/keys to play this game, which I really enjoy; shows some serious potential with the steam controller!

The biggest issue for me honestly is the price; for just $5 more you could grab Brothers; which is basically the same concept but on steroids, and way better! I would have rated this higher if not for humorous price tag.

Worth $2-4; pretty sure I got it in a bundle for less.

The art and visual style are awesome. Great atmosphere. I wish I could say the same for the gameplay and puzzle design. It's just really basic and uninspiring. It seems like the game is really meant for 2 player coop becuse for 1 person it's more frustrating than fun.

Good for free time, but not that fun.
