Getting Advanced Typist
Does anyone have any tips for me on how to get this achievement?

I've read a bunch of other posts that ask how the WPM is calcualted in the game and I understand that it is not going to reflect my real-life WPM of 120.

I'm looking for tips on how to play the game to get my top score of 50 WPM up to that 60 WPM mark for the achievement. In the arenas it is frustrating because the enemies don't ever seem to come fast enough for me to keep up a descent fast pace.

Thank you for any tips that anyone can give me.

Yea I think they need to implement some sort of mode where small word enemies just keep constantly spawning. Im stuck at 56 WPM and it's impossible to get it higher as I can't type any faster.^^

I did manage to up it to 51 WPM over the last few days since my OP. But that is a very small improvement.

Considering that I'm certainly within the top 10% of the population for a very fast typing speed, I find this achievement frustrating. The words just don't come fast enough!

Hopefully someon who has attained this achievement will see the thread and could give us some tips, like which arena they managed to do it in.

Some general tips:
- The more words you've already typed, the harder it is to increase your average, so you'll probably want to start a New Game.
- Time only counts when you're in Typing Mode. So when you see an enemy (or obstacle, etc), you can "cheat" a little by activating then immediately deactivating Typing Mode. This will give you a "sneak peek" of the word you're supposed to type, only cost you a fraction of a second, and allow you to get a much faster start on the word (since you now know what it is) when you activate Typing Mode for real.
- For multi-word enemies/obstacles, if you deactivate Typing Mode before completing the final word, you can quit to the Main Menu (the words you do type will count towards your stats!), then Continue your game, and the enemy/obstacle should be back to full health.
- Some enemy encounters will respawn (if you quit to the Main Menu and Continue), even if you kill them completely.
- Treasure chests will respawn (if you quit to the Main Menu and Continue), if you don't pick up their contents after opening them.

I actually got the achievement a while back, when I found a lone, multi-word enemy that respawned, and just battled it over and over to get my WPM stat over 60. However... I just did some testing earlier today, and I think I figured out a much easier way! =)

Here's what I recommend:

- Create a new Profile (use a different slot, so you can switch back to your original Profile later!) and start a New Game.
- "Sneak peek" every word you encounter (activate then immediately deactivate Typing Mode), to help your initial WPM. The WPM stat doesn't show (and won't count for the achievement) until you've typed 30 words, but the game is keeping track!
- In the first new zone you reveal, there will be two treasure chests. Choose whichever one you think has easier words for your typing tendencies.
- Open the chest, but don't pick up its contents.
- Quit to the Main Menu. If you want, you can check your Statistics, to see how close you are to 30 words typed.
- Continue your game, and the chest should be there again.
- Repeat (open chest, don't pick up contents, quit to main menu, continue) until you've typed a total of 30 words.

And that's it! =) At 30 words typed, the WPM stat will appear, which should trigger the achievement checks (although, sometimes Steam achievements don't trigger immediately, so if it doesn't trigger immediately, you may want to wait a little bit, or maybe even type another couple of words).

And if your real life typing speed is over 60, I think you should fairly easily be able to get the WPM stat over 60, in this way. I did two runs using the above method, and the first time, I got 68.63, and the second time I got 76.80. =)

Anyway, hope that helps!

Wow Cavalcadence, that is amazing. It was extremely easy to get with your second easier method. Thank you very much.

I actually think that the information about the typing speed only being calculated while in typing mode was enough that I could have got the achievement just by playing the game from the start for a little bit. Doing the sneak peek thing and cancelling out as soon as I'm not really typing.

No wonder I wasn't getting this by being in the arena. There are way too many long stretches between enemies spawning and even being able to see the next word to type!

Thank you very much.
I got it after 25 words.
Btw you should make this as a guide, this definitely will help others as well. I'll upvote it if you make the guide.

Just wanted to let anyone know that the second method listed still works in 2020, it helped out a lot! And the beginning explanation really helped me understand why the hell I had less than 40 WPM on my main profile after playing Arena for a while since I know mine is at least 65+, thanks a lot!

wow, thanks a lot. I don't know why but I got it after 27 words.

Thanks, it is indeed necessary to create a new profile. The game should only use the last 30 word for the achievement.
