Was having issues on Linux w/ Colemak. Figured out how to fix it. Thought I would share.
I bought this game and Nanostory to help me learn the Colemak layout. I was using WASD, but on the Colemak layout, it is incredibly awkward as the keys map to WADG. I was just making due to I could enjoy the game.

Today, I decided that I was going to try and figure out the problem I was having before trying to play again. I tried everything from trying to use the Options dialog that pop up to change the keybindings (Seems entirely broken BTW), to trying all of the various keyboard layouts in the options menu. Nothing was working.

Then I decided to install the game via Steam Proton vs Linux native and everything worked perfectly. I left the Configuration keybindings as default, went into options and selected Colemak, and everything worked. Unfortunately, my game save was gone. It appears as though the Windows version and the Linux version use different save files or something. After I did that, I unchecked the Proton box so it would try the Linux native binary again, and it worked! I have absolutely no idea why.

As a side note, I found the with the in-game options, none of the options like the text/spoken language or keyboard layout actually change visually, but they do change in the background. To get around this, I would click the button, then click on "Audio/Visuals", then click back on "Gameplay" and the option would show the current setting properly.

TL;DR: If you're having trouble with alternative keyboard layouts in Linux, try to install the game via Proton.
