i dont think there are any mods yet for legacy but heres SeeJay's tribute site http://evochron2.junholt.se/
I am new to this game, but I am not to modding... I do not plan to make some fancy 3d ships to the game but I'd rather overhaul the game's looks and sounds. After downloading and looking into the game's custom kit one question left for me unclear: how to unpack the default game's resources? there are some textures in the kit, but something tells me these are far from all. And the sounds are absent completely... Can the default game files be modded? Or do I have to create the modded files from scratch. I would love to dig into the terrain and skybox textures, but for now I cannot find the way to get to them
The second question is where it is better to host mods? Besides the official forum (which I for some reason cannot get access to) and the SeeJay's http://evochron2.junholt.se/ site...
I did some edits to SeeJays colored pitch ladder and replaced the warp, afterburner and an annoying tractor beam sounds (just to test how this works). I'd share them if someone likes to have them, but I see it is not popular to post direct links just here..
*There's a few very awesome and interesting other ones too, but so far no upload and are unfinished*

This is pretty much all the ones you can grab off the web at the moment, there's a few more ship ones, but they are in development and incomplete.
note: as far as I can tell, getting at the main game resources would involve ripping apart the data file which is a compressed package of sorts. It most definitely copies some of the default game sounds to the TEMP folder, but certainly not all of them.
All modding for huds should involve the use of the cockpit viewer the dev made.
Ships must be in .X format.
Cockpits also use this template, more info on modding is elaborated here,
http://www.starwraith.com/evochronlegacy/customkit/readme.htm
BUT if you don't have some modelling experience yet or some software and converting tools, would be tough.
Audio isn't as bad, however sounds can be picky, generally following the customization page will work, some things I personally found was if you are using mono, it is not the same as stereo, and can be picky with sound cards. Stereo .wav 44Khz at 32bit float seems to be the best option that'll work. 16bit pcm will not.
Just let me know where I can grab them or email them to me so I can add them.
(Feel free to include a icon if you can. If not, I'll create one for each mod).
Also include instructions for what kind of mod you've made and what folder it goes into.
Game files can't be "modded", like the sound files, but you replace them if you put
your own file in the correct folder for whatever mod you are doing. Only images are
included in the ModKit. (If I recall correct).

Please, let me know what you think of these ;-) Especially I would appreciate if someone with powerfull PC setup would test starting sound mods in terms of timing. The game requires them to consist of 3 parts. It sounds ok on my rig (all the phrases are spoken before next file starts to play), but I wonder if someone has a rig that loads the game superfast and the starting voice patterns would not be played as they should... Thanks in advance
Cheers Pal
your afterburner tabon is probably the best sound a mon avis, I really like that one.
Nice job on the nebulae!
Yeah, something like that. I don't think its Microsoft's, though
Here's a link to the one, that i liked best http://www.oddcast.com/home/demos/tts/tts_example.php?sitepal
I found it was good with punctuation marks. Like it makes longer pause between sentences if you type say 2 abstracts between them and not a dot.
I do like default text patterns better though, but I wanted some voice while the game loads, and consequently I matched all the ships voice alerts
Thanks for your feedback

And replaced the Milky Way texture to more of HQ. This variant occurs more in southern (closer to Sol) systems.

I was making a quick mod chooser for my own game using a batch file. If I upload a whole pack of stuff mind if I include your background texture for starfields?
ModSneakTweaker

It's probably perfect for people that are new to the game. People used to it already have it set up their way
This is NOT the overhaul community mod, as it doesn't include ReShade, however you could always download that injector seperately for use in the game.
I have Created an entire Sound pack & Mod Manager through a batch file called Switchero.
For a fresh game experience, it allows you to very fluidly copy new assets to the game without physically copy and pasting files through windows explorer, I have found it saves me some time. And helps to mix things up audio or visual wise for me.
I routinely use all these mods, so I thought I'd share the entire pack and the batch file allows you to be choosy in a pretty fair fashion about what you want.
You can also test sounds and rename custom gun sounds to fit where you'd like in game. Tried to make it super friendly.
Install is simply unpack the RAR into the main evochron folder, wherever it is....steamapps included....that's it.
Then. Run Switchero.
