This was made with DarkBASIC?!
Brooooo I remember messing with DB as a kid! I would play the demo of StarWraith and be so amazed by it, wondering how that was made with something I could barely understand at the time. I know it was made with Dark Basic because I got an audio error while doing the tutorial and it says DarkBASIC. Decided to stop listening to the tutorial and fly to the planet, then shot a tree and got the error but the game kept going luckily. Major props to the developer. I'm definitely going to continue playing this as, even after getting a hang of Elite Dangerous, that game let me down for not being a very deep experience.

Hopefully the developer see's this but I'm curious, have you tried other game engines like Unity or even TheGameCreators new AppGameKit Studio? If you have tried AppGameKit, how do you think it compares to DarkBasic? I had both the original DB and DBPro and I have to say DBPro has a better interface than the AppGameKit Studio. I would love to hear back if possible, and you can go into depth as now im slightly fluent in Visual Basic and C#. slightly fluent as in I dont have all the built in functions memorized but I understand how to write logic.

Hi ZapMan. Yes, DBPro, although a somewhat customized variant of it to include some additional things I needed for my games. I have tried most game engines, settling on ones that allowed me to make the most efficient progress in ways I needed with required capabilities for my projects. I am currently primarily working in AGKS now and have updated a first release for a different game using that system: https://www.starwraith.com/arvochalliance/index.htm Some details on that project: https://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=13565

I've also been working for a few years on trying to port this game over to AGKS as well, but not yet sure how/if that is going to pan out (still a lot of things left to test and sort out as it's a much more complex game and codebase). I talk a little bit about that at the link above and any potential announcements/info will generally be posted here: https://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=19 If you'd like to chat about that process, AGK, or have specific questions, feel free to contact me via e-mail ( starwraith.com > contact ).

Thank you so much for replying! I will definitely check out your links and may send you an email as I am curious about the process.
