CivCity Rome not starting
I bought civcity rome on steam and every time I try to open it i get a message saying "failed to find steam" and then closes the game. Has anyone had this problem and any idea how to fix this?

i had this problem when i tried to launch it outside steam, through the launcher in the installation folder (steamapps/common/civcity), but when i launch through steam such warning doesn't pop up
not sure if that would help though

I restarted my computer then it worked.

A solution that usualy resolves the "Failed to find Steam" error, is to copy "Steam.dll" from your Steam folder and paste it in your game directory (Steamapps>common>CivCity Rome), but that hasn't worked for me. I'm running Windows 10 and have the same issue. It worked on my older Windows 7 machine though.

You may need to change the screen resolution in the startup window that appears when launching the game. That fixes the issue for me at least. Good luck!

I don't get a startup window. The popup IS the starting window.

Try to exit your steam account and relaunch it, it always helps me

Okay I've figured out why the game will not run on some newer computers. If your monitor does not support 60 hz/fps refreshrate you can try changing it by rightclicking on your desktop>display settings>advanced display settings>Display adaptor properties>monitor.
If you cannot change your refreshrate to 60 fps in that dropdown menu I solved it by using this: https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU
Restart your computer after youve followed the guide for CRU and then the game should work. Good luck!
Weird. I played for a few hours last night. Today I got the "failed to find steam" thing, copied in the .dll, which fixed the error message. It now appears to boot up, but I can't keep the window open. It just closes itself ...
It's totally a resolution issue. Everything on my desktop keeps getting smaller and smaller ...

CONFIRMED! Exiting and restarting Steam fixed this issue for me. Fun game. Almost as much fun as Caesar II & III.
I fixed it by changing resolution. But now I have the bug where all the millers lie down and don't do anything.
