Same. My 2nd screen just flashes a bit, I ctrl+alt+del and then the game crashes. Original Deus Ex GOTY loads fine.

having the same issue, says "preparing to launch" and then just flashes and then nothing happens.

Never mind, fixed the issue. Just launch the games exe file manually. It can be found in the following locations

..\steamapps\common\Deus Ex\System\Revision.exe

The game will then load a pre-game screen allowing you to choose a video renderer, resolution, sound device, etc. I suspect it's setting these options that was all that was needed to get the game to load normally (previously loading Deus Ex Revision via the Steam UI this settings screen did not appear).

Make sure you've got Deus Ex GOTY installed and unplug your 2nd monitor.

Had the same problem, until I stopped trying to run it in my monitor's native resolution of 2560x1440, so you might try lowering the resolution to one that'll work.

Some very high resolutions might not be supported by the game's rendering engine, also the game seems a bit confused about multiple monitors. Please remember guys that this is Unreal Engine 1 from 2000.

I had the same problem. If i alt+tab out of the game and then right back in, all is well.

Same for me about missing a windows.dll

I'm having the issue with the blank screen. I find it odd that I can boot up Game of the Year Edition with no problem and start game. I'll just hold off for a permanent solution, I can wait. :)

Just to make everyone aware. It is not necessary to unplug your second monitor. I've been running the game for the past hour without issue and have 2x monitor plugged into my GeForce GTX 970. I only initially had problems launching the game, but found launching the game directly via the Revision.exe file allowed a settings dialogue box to load. Once I had set all my settings set I was then able to re-launch the game and have it load normally (did not go to black screen on monitor 1 with flickering on monitor 2). I can now also launch the game through the Steam UI without issue now (I don't have to keep launching the game from the Revision.exe file). For me at least, the problem appears to be the game was trying to launch without going through the initial configuration process.
