this mod is pure brilliance:

What are you talking about?
It has nothing to do with Deus Ex 1, nor does it improve anything (certainly not the visuals) to the point where it IS a difference where Revision is not.
Revision is vastly enhanced Deus Ex 1 with loads of additional content, but even the vanilla, default mode offers an incredibly elevated experience vs og Deus Ex 1.
Have you tried.. checkign the description of the game?
[/i]Deus Ex: Revision is a community-made overhaul of the 2000 classic. It features new environments, new music, and new world-building detail. It also bundles in some of the best modifications that the fanbase has made over the years, including Direct3D 9 rendering, high-resolution textures, high-detail 3D models, and alternative gameplay modes.
Key features
Locations throughout the game world have been re-designed with new aesthetic and gameplay detail.
A new soundtrack has been composed by the symphonic electronica duo EdenShard, based on the original score.
High Resolution Textures courtesy of New Vision.
High Detail 3D models courtesy of Project HDTP.
Direct3D 9 Rendering courtesy of Chris Dohnal.
Multiple gameplay modes in the form of Shifter, BioMod, and a custom variant of Human Renovation.

If you don't understand some of these points then say it, I'll try to explain it as best as I can.
To understand some of the issues of Revision, for me a big one is lighting. It made lighting better overall, but made it worse in some areas, first glimpse of an issue there is in the opening intro cinematic where the 2 people talking, their faces aren't lit at all. Revision add a lot of content to the map and takes liberties to move items. For example in Chapter 1, I'll find less lockpicks and electronic devices. However the bug when you downgrade pistols is fixed (finally).
There's a lot of great additions with Revision. However there's a lot of changes to the base game that, some things, I'm not sure is the best choice and other things might not be cool. The graphical improvements and changes might be better, might be worse, for me I'd say better overall, but the lighting is an issue in some places.
I've not beaten Revision yet and don't remember every little detail about goty, why I"m playing the two again. plus a deep fresh knowledge of the game makes TNM a better experience. You have to consider right away, TNM is a NEW GAME, so it might feel like DX and look like it in some ways, but if you consider it a different game, then it'll be a better experience. I think the people that wrote TNM should be pro comedy writers really, maybe in other games.
From a purists point of view. Here's a decent guide on how to get goty working on a modern rig. I had issues with DX10, so gonna try DX11. Also I'm going to try ReShade proper (meaning using shaders that cost money) and see what it can do with the game. Also also, if DX11 works, that means I can Special K to work and tweak even more stuff in the game.
Technically, Revision just works out of the box, no need for mods.

ps, goty is/was TB's favorite PC game. I don't believe he liked Revision as he didn't do a video on it.

tl;dr
get revision. try it. it's free.
when you're done or it gets boring, then get TNM mod and try that for a complete makeover of the game.
