Report a translation problem
I'm not sure if your understanding of the word "layout" is similar to mine, but you can see the difference in the screenshots provided in the original thread. They are very conveniently made, you can switch between original textures, NV 1.5, and NV 2.0, all in the same screenshot.
Another thing is that DDS and D3D10 supports alpha channels, while the engine does not. So we would have to manually convert those to regular 8-bit masked textures.
