Unable to go back to get blue card.

I have destroyed the mutant factory and get to the military barracks where blue key is required in order to continue. I know the blue card is in the desert, but I dont know how to get back to ship from this region. Any help?

Use the carrot door and the secret path to the port... then exit the fence and turn to the east you will return to the harbour where you ship is placed... just follow the coast to the east.
